Sybilla Technologies designs builds and operates robotic optical observatories for monitoring objects in space. The company specializes in the complete systems, software for automated data acquisition, analysis, and scheduling of networks of sensors. We work in the domains of Space Situational Awareness, Space Surveillance and Tracking, Space Traffic Management, Near Earth Objects, stellar and planetary research, education, and commercial on-demand observations.

Your Responibilities

  • Creating and executing complex observing campaigns.   
  • Performing data analysis (astrometric, light curve, polarimetric, spectroscopic, characterization of objects, detecting anomalies) of satellites, space debris and asteroids.   
  • Development of new tools for the interpretation of photometric and polarimetric data for object characterisation.   
  • Supporting fragmentation, launch, payload separation, station keeping, catalogue maintenance, attitude monitoring, manoeuvres, collision avoidance, characterisation data gathering and services.   
  • Writing technical notes and documentation on the executed observing projects.   
  • Participating in the contacts with customers like service providers, satellite operators, agencies, other connected networks (to fulfil the customer need for data, debug issues, discuss the need for prioritization of issues).   
  • Monitoring data quality, timeliness and working on their improvement.   
  • Working with Software Development, Analytics and Internal tools to create new scheduling strategies, reporting tools, databases, new insights into the data gathered.   
  • Safety and security of robotic observatories.   
  • Creating synthetic reports and recommendations for development, processes improvement.   
  • Writing and updating training materials.   
  • Leading training sessions.   
  • Improving the Sensor Network Operations and Data Delivery department excellence in service.   
  • After initial training, participation in on-duty service and sensor troubleshooting.   
  • Implement data quality control measures.  
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements based on data analysis. 
  • Research and development of innovative technologies and methodologies. Drive innovation to maintain a competitive edge. 

Requirements

  • Higher education in engineering or STEM (bachelor or master – preferred).   
  • Experience with computational techniques for shape/attitude estimation.  
  • Experience with complex data analysis tasks using programming or scripting languages.   
  • Very good command of the English language in writing and speech (candidate should be able to read and write technical documentation).   

Nice to Have

  • PhD in astrophysics/astronomy or an equivalent level experience working in the SSA domain.   
  • Understanding of AI/ML data analysis techniques.   
  • Previous experience in leading observing campaigns, analysing optical data of non-sidereal targets (photometry and/or polarimetry of satellites, debris, asteroids). Ability to explain domain expertise and train staff/external partners at varying levels of complexity.  
  • Experience working across large, international teams to deliver projects. 
  • Understanding of the military & civilian space environment, both in opportunities for development and risks for operations.  
  • Experience with SQL or other databases. Ability to write queries and extract data independently.    

Terms of employment

  • Hybrid work model (Bydgoszcz/Zielonka) – occasional visits, 
  • Salary: 12000 – 18000 PLN gross (employment contract, full-time),
