The company specializes in the complete systems, software for automated data acquisition, analysis, and scheduling of networks of sensors. We work in the domains of Space Situational Awareness, Space Surveillance and Tracking, Space Traffic Management, Near Earth Objects, stellar and planetary research, education, and commercial on-demand observations.

About the role

The Chief Software Officer needs to drive technological advancements and continuously improve processes. Innovation is crucial for developing new features, implementing cutting-edge technologies, and staying ahead in a competitive market. This role requires a strong ability to think creatively and propose novel solutions. 

The Chief Software Officer is responsible for overseeing, managing, and leading a team of software engineers. This role involves developing the technological strategy, software development, and implementing best practices to ensure high-quality products. The Chief Software Officer collaborates with various departments to deliver innovative technological solutions that support the organization’s business objectives. 

Your Responibilities

  • Developing and implementing the organization’s long-term technological strategy.  
  • Selecting and implementing appropriate technologies and tools for software development.  
  • Planning, designing, and implementing new features and enhancements to existing products.  
  • Overseeing the entire software lifecycle, from requirements analysis to deployment and maintenance.  
  • Implementing engineering best practices and methodologies, such as Agile, DevOps, CI/CD. Ensuring high code quality through regular code reviews, unit testing, and test automation.  
  • Working closely with product, hardware, marketing, sales, and operations departments to understand business and technological needs.  
  • Coordinating with other technology leaders in the organization to ensure technological consistency.  
  • Planning and managing project resources, including budgets, schedules, and priorities.  
  • Monitoring project progress and reporting status to senior management.  
  • Supervising the software engineering team, including recruiting, training, and developing employees.  
  • Motivating and supporting the team in achieving project and professional goals. 

Requirements

  • Higher education in engineering or STEM (bachelor or master – preferred).  
  • 10+ years of experience as a software engineer, including experience in a managerial position (team of up to 20 people).  
  • Experience in creating a software department according to the software development lifecycle.  
  • Knowledge of various programming languages, frameworks, and software development tools.  
  • Ability to propose innovative technological solutions.  
  • Experience working in an international environment.  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Very good command of the English language in writing and speech (candidate should be able to read and write technical documentation).  

Nice to Have

  • Experience in Space industry or interest in space-related topics. 

Terms of employment

  • Remote employment model (Bydgoszcz/Zielonka) – occasional visits. 
  • Salary: 23000 – 33000 PLN/B2B or FTE depending on your experience and qualifications. 
  • The candidate will be offered compensation relative to his/her experience and skills.
