 Optical Systems Product Manager

As an Optical Systems Product Manager and you’ll play a key role in advancing our next-generation optical systems and automation software – ABOT, Astrometry24.NET, AstroDrive.IO – and our flagship telescopes: Perseus, Hercules, Orion, Ursa Minor, and Hydra. 

Your mission: you’ll guide the evolution of our systems and tools to deliver fast, accurate, and reliable data products. From automating sensor networks to delivering fast, accurate, and reliable data products, you’ll empower sensor operators be more productive – and enjoy their work more – while ensuring satellite operators receive seamless, high-quality data streams.

Sybilla Technologies designs, builds and operates robotic optical observatories for monitoring objects in space. The company specializes in the complete systems, software for automated data acquisition, analysis and scheduling of networks of sensors. We work in the domains of Space Situational Awareness, Space Surveillance and Tracking, Space Traffic Management, stellar and planetary research, education, and commercial on-demand observations.   

Accountabilities

  • Turn the company’s product strategy into clear, actionable plans and ensure alignment with customer needs and business goals.

  • Gather insights from market research, customer feedback, and competitor analysis to identify product gaps and opportunities.

  • Translate high-level product ideas into clear and detailed requirements.

  • Use, test, and review our products and competitive solutions to create comparisons and improvement suggestions.

  • Maintain and update the product roadmap, track progress, and ensure timely delivery of key milestones with high quality and reliability.

  • Plan and oversee product releases, ensuring smooth rollouts that meet quality and timeline expectations.

  • Prepare and maintain product documentation, including white papers, presentations, case studies, and demos to support go-to-market efforts.

  • Ensure internal and external stakeholders understand the product’s value, functionality, and direction.

  • Analyze RFPs, RFIs, and tender documents to assess feasibility and support technical and functional responses.

  • Monitor and act on customer satisfaction metrics (e.g., CSAT, NPS), integrating feedback into product planning and support processes.

Requirements

  • Capacity for grasping product vision, decomposing into smaller steps and prioritizing them. 

  • Ability to stabilize, negotiate and unify all of the competing demands from different stakeholders. 

  • Ability to translate product ideas into technical details and user-friendly documentation. 

  • Adaptability and being comfortable with ambiguity, fast iteration, and collaborative problem-solving. 

  • Hands-on experience with optical telescopes, CCD/CMOS imaging systems, and telescope automation software (e.g., ASCOM, NINA, INDI, or proprietary systems). 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on clarity, structure, and audience understanding. 

  • Fluent English

  • Excellent organizational skills. 

Nice to have

  • Previous work in product management or technical marketing, especially in a high-tech or scientific equipment company. 

  • Familiarity with tools and methodologies used in product development, such as Agile, Waterfall and Scrum. 

  • Experience in a start-up environment. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM. 

  • Demonstrated interest in space traffic management and optical systems. 

Terms of employment

  • Employment will be delivered in a remote or hybrid model (main office in Bydgoszcz, Poland).   

  • Ability to travel to remote sites (on a need basis) and to headquarters (once per quarter).   

  • Salary at the level of 90-150 PLN per hour (B2B), depending on experience and skills.  

  • The candidate will have a specialist assigned as mentor during initial weeks of employment.   

  • The candidate will be offered compensation relative to his/her experience and skills.
