About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Principal Accountant to lead and develop the accounting function for our operations in Poland. As the primary accounting authority within the organization, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and integrity of accounting processes, while managing statutory reporting, tax matters, and financial closing activities. 

Working closely with the Head of International Accounting, Tax, and Statutory Reporting, you will play a key role in building internal accounting capabilities, supporting audits and due diligence projects, and driving process improvements in a growing technology company operating at the forefront of the space industry. 

Your responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with the Polish Accounting Act, tax regulations, and internal accounting policies.
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, review and approve accounting entries, while ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of accounting records and reconciliations.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities, prepare statutory financial statements, and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Perform and coordinate balance sheet and profit & loss reconciliations.
  • Manage VAT, CIT, withholding tax, and other tax obligations, including tax filings, and regulatory reporting.
  • Cooperate with tax advisors, regulatory authorities, and external accounting providers, ensuring compliance and high-quality service delivery.
  • Drive the transition of accounting activities from outsourced providers to in-house operations and support the continuous improvement of accounting processes.

Requirements

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
  • At least 7 years of accounting experience.
  • Previous experience as a Senior Accountant, Deputy Chief Accountant, or Chief Accountant.
  • Strong knowledge of the Polish Accounting Act and tax regulations.
  • Experience managing audits and inspections.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • English proficiency at B2 level or higher.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in grant accounting.
  • Exposure to reporting within an international group structure.
  • Experience transitioning accounting processes from outsourced providers to in-house operations

What we offer  

  • Hybrid work model with predominantly remote work and occasional visits in our offices (main office in Bydgoszcz, secondary in Zielonka near Bydgoszcz).
  • Compensation: PLN 16,000-21,000 gross/month on employment contract, depending on experience and skills.
